Kei-no-hama Beach

The closest beach from Kinosaki Onsen, with beautiful white sand and deep-green pine trees.
* It is a typical beautiful Japanese coastal area. The shoaling beach is nice and quiet. You can enjoy fishing on a rocky part of the beach. The beach is about 900 meters long.

About 7 minutes by car from Kinosaki Onsen. About 4 km.
15 minutes by Zentan Bus to Kei, and a short walk from Kei-no-hama bus stop.

Takenohama Beach

This beach with one of the most beautiful sceneries in the San-in coastal area is popular among Japanese visitors from the Kinki region in summer. Including a scenic white beach that stretches about 1 km, the beach has been selected as one of the 100 most beautiful coasts in Japan.

About 8.4 km from Kinosaki Onsen
No bus service available to this beach. Take a JR train to Takeno Station for about 20 minutes from Kinosaki Onsen (one train an hour), and walk 15 minutes to Takenohama.

Kounotori Park (White Stork Park)

Established in 165, Kounotori Park had bred over 100 of one of Japan's lost "national treasures": the oriental white stork. The park serves as a breeding and training center for the white storks before being released into the wild. Located 15 minutes by car from Toyooka's JR station, one can visit the 165 hectare park for free and learn abouyt the white stork and observe them while training in their 625 square meter area.

CSR

The Culture, Sports, and Recreation Center, or Maruyama Gawa Park, is located just across the Maruyama River. This multi-functional complex has modern sporting facilities such as an Olympic sized pool, a grass soccer pitch, and a boat house where one can rent canoes, kayaks, or row-boats. In the winter there is an outdoor ice skating rink.

Another attractive part of the CSR complex is the exhibition area. Here, one can view local, national, or international art exhibits depending on the current show. There is also a coffee shop within the CSR7s main building. The CSR is about 7 minutes away by car from Kinosaki.


Kinosaki Marine World

A nearby attraction to Kinosaki is the Kinosaki Marine World. Located on the coast of the Sea of Japan, the marine park is only 10 minutes away by bus.

Within the park, one can view dolphin, penguin, seal, and sea lion shows. There is also a fishing center within the park. From the marine park, one can get a great view of Ryugujo, a sea palace. The palace is situated on an outcrop of large rocks, about one kilometer out to sea.

Also, for golfing enthusiasts, the Kinosaki Country Club is located slightly up the mountainside from Hiyoriyama Marine Park. This is a public 18 hole, par seventy golf course.


Bus Tour

For and enjoyable half-day trip outside of Kinosaki, one can take the Zentan Bus sightseeing tour.

The five hour tour stops at 3 locations, Genbudou, the Jibasan Center and the town of Izushi. Genbudo is famous for its unique caves, formed from enormous volcanic rock crystals.

At the Jibasan Center, one has the chance to see and buy many excellent, locally produced products.

Finally, the tour stops in the picture-postcard beautiful town of Izushi, where one can stroll in the peaceful surroundings of a traditional town, browsing fine examples of Japanese ceramics or eating the local speciality, Izushi soba(buckwheat noodles).

The tour bus can be boarded at 8:50 am at the Daikakigi-kan convention hall bus stop, or at 9:00 in front of the Zentan Bus Station. The bus returns to Kinosaki at 2:00pm in the afternoon. Reservations are necessary and can be made at your hotel, ryokan or at the bus station.
